Bullying

It has come to my realization that bullying is no longer what it used to be. I'm sure everyone has heard of Phoebe Prince's story and have watched " Cyberbully" on ABC Family. While my high school was not the best school in the county where I grew up in, I must admit that I had great friends and great teachers that cared about me to where bullying was not a big issue towards me. However, after reading Phoebe Prince's story, it has really opened up my eyes to how cruel young adults can be. A lot of bullying towards Phoebe took place due to jealousy. Even though some can say that jealousy is actually an odd form of compliment, it can be dangerous and deadly. I sometimes wonder if these young adults ever took the time to rethink their actions before they act upon it, and see how much pain they would be inflicting on others. No one wants to be treated that way, especially at a learning facility where students are expected to learn and make friends.
It angers me extremely when teachers, who are supposed to be taking place of students' parents while they are under their care, actually do not take action against what has been reported to them, and try to think up pitiful excuses to not take the blame for what occurs.
Teachers, you all have responsibilities to hold for each child you see in the hallways, and this should have been known once you decided on becoming an educator to young minds. Teaching is not the only job one holds as a teacher; instead, one becomes a mentor, a role model, and a parent wrapped up in one. If they are not ready to hold such a responsibility, then I would suggest they go for another degree rather than half-assing their jobs.
